A Provincial TVET Forum: Advancing Quality & Inclusive TVET Delivery, Strengthening Skills and Shaping the Future

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continues to strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system by aligning training programs with labor market demands and industry requirements. The initiative emphasizes the development of higher-level qualifications such as NC III, NC IV, and diploma programs, while promoting lifelong learning, flexible training pathways, and data-driven planning. Through stronger collaboration between government agencies, industries, and training institutions, the effort aims to create an industry-driven TVET ecosystem that produces skilled and globally competitive Filipino workers.

During the forum, Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico Jr. CESO III discuss the direction of TVET development and workforce alignment. Representatives from Department of Education (DepEd), assessment centers, training institutions, school representatives, and TESDA focal persons attended the event to exchange insights and strengthen partnerships. The discussions highlighted the importance of coordination among education providers and industry partners to ensure that training programs remain relevant and responsive to evolving workforce needs.

The forum also presented the “Surigao del Norte Job Skills Requirements: 2025 Revalidation Report,” which identifies priority skills needed in the province to guide training programs, scholarships, and resource allocation. In addition, an update on the 2025 UTPRAS/EBET registration showcased TVET programs offered through institution-based, enterprise-based, farm school, and community training modes.

As of December 2025, a total of 102 TVET qualifications and 16 diploma-level programs have been registered across sectors such as agriculture, construction, tourism, electrical, automotive, engineering, ICT, and healthcare, supporting the province’s goal of improving employment opportunities and workforce competitiveness.
